Samsung today announced the availability of its latest portable SSD, the T5 EVO, with up to 8TB of storage space. The greatest capacity size available by portable SSDs on the market is 8TB.
The T5 Evo supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds of up to 460MB/s for data transmission. That’s substantially faster than regular hard drives but slower than NVME SSDs like Samsung’s T7 and T9 series.
The T5 is created by Samsung with a rectangular body and a clip that can be connected to bags and backpacks, as well as drop protection up to six feet owing to a rubberized surface. Samsung has also integrated Dynamic Thermal Guard technology to protect against overheating.
The SSD is lightweight and portable, measuring just 3.6 ounces and having dimensions of 3.74 inches by 1.57 inches. It is a perfect travel companion.
The cost of the 8TB T5 EVO SSD is $650, and you can get it on the Samsung website. There are also 2TB and 4TB variants available from Samsung, which cost $190 and $350, respectively.
